The story
القصـــــــــــــــــــــــــــة:
One of the most beautiful translated children’s stories ever…
It is said that there was a small candle that was burning in a dark room, and it was looking at the large electric lamp and envying it for its strong light that filled the whole room, unlike it.

يُحكى أنه كانت هناك شمعة صغيرة كانت مشتعلة في غرفة مظلمة، وكانت تنظر إلى المصباح الكهربائي الكبير وتغبطه على نوره القوي الذي يملأ الغرفة بأكملها بخلافها.
The candle said to itself: “What is the use of my meager light?! I see that the lamp does all the work, unlike me, for I am here eroding and melting until I almost disappear to no avail.”
قالت الشمعة بينها وبين نفسها: “ما الفائدة من ضوئي الضئيل؟!، أرى أن المصباح يقوم بكل العمل، عكسي تماما فأنا هنا أتآكل وأذوب حتى كدت أختفي دون جدوى”.
Little by little, over time, the candle began to lose its desire to burn and emit light, and it wished that it would go out forever.
وشيئاً فشيئاً بمرور الوقت بدأت الشمعة تفقد رغبتها في الاشتعال والإضاءة التي تنبعث منها، كما أنها كانت تتمنى لو أنها تنطفئ للأبد.
Suddenly, the electricity went out, the large lamp went out, and complete darkness fell in every corner of the room. Fear and confusion prevailed. The owner of the room began to stumble until his hand was able to touch the small candle that was still fighting with a faint hope of life before it ended.
وفجأة، انقطع التيار الكهربائي، فانطفأ المصباح الكبير وحل ظلام دامس في كل أركان الغرفة، عم الخوف والارتباك، صار يتخبط صاحب الغرفة حتى استطاعت يده أن تلمس الشمعة الصغيرة التي كانت لا تزال تقاوم أملا ضئيلاً في حياتها قبل الانتهاء.
The owner of the room approached it and turned it on properly, so it lit the way for him to find the electrical switches and he was able to fix the fault.
اقترب منها صاحب الغرفة وأشعلها جيداً، فأنارت له الطريق ليجد مفاتيح الكهرباء وتمكن من إصلاح العطل.
At that moment, the candle felt great pride and accomplishment, and realized that its small size and faint light did not mean that it was useless and worthless.
وفي هذه اللحظة، شعرت الشمعة بفخر عظيم وبإنجاز، وأدركت أن صغر حجمها وضآلة نورها لا يعني أنها بلا فائدة وبلا قيمة.
At the right moment, its emitted light was the only savior and the fuse that restored the entire place to its natural state.
في اللحظة المناسبة، كان ضوئها المنبعث هو المنقذ الوحيد والفتيل الذي أعاد للمكان بأكمله لموقعه الطبيعي.
