القصــــــــــــــــــــــــــة:
It is said that there was once a large and beautiful forest, where various creatures lived in peace and happiness. The trees were lush green, the flowers shone brightly, and the birds sang the most beautiful melodies at all times. Within that forest, every creature had a role to play, and each one respected the role of the other.
يحكى أنه كانت هناك غابة كبيرة وجميلة، تعيش فيها الكائنات المتنوعة بسلام وسعادة، كانت الأشجار فيها خضراء يانعة، والورود تتلألأ بداخلها بألوانها الزاهية، أما عن الطيور فكانت تشدو في كل الأوقات بأجمل الألحان، داخل تلك الغابة كل كائن كان له دور يؤديه، وكل واحد يحترم دور الآخر.
In the middle of the forest, there was a clear, fresh river flowing, its water irrigating the trees and plants everywhere. The river’s water gave life to every thirsty creature. All creatures gathered around this river to drink and exchange conversations and laughter.
بمنتصف الغابة، كان يجري نهر صاف وعذب، تروي مياهه الأشجار والنباتات في كل أرجائها، كانت مياه النهر تمنح الحياة لكل كائن ظمآن، كانت جميع الكائنات تجتمع حول هذا النهر لتشرب وتتبادل الأحاديث والضحكات.
One day, a small creature in the forest felt that his role was not as important as the rest of the creatures around him. Every day, he saw the big creatures like the trees and the river. The little creature believed that the real value lies in the huge size, so he decided to stop performing his role as he did every day. At first, no one noticed his shortcomings, but as time passed, problems began to appear and affect them all.
وفي يوم من الأيام، شعر كائن صغير بالغابة بأن دوره غير مهم مثل بقية الكائنات من حوله، إذ كان يرى كل يوم الكائنات الكبيرة مثل الأشجار والنهر، فاعتقد الصغير أن القيمة الحقيقية تكمن في الحجم الضخم، فقرر أن يتوقف عن تأدية دوره مثلما يفعل يوميا، في بداية الأمر، لم يلاحظ أحد تقصيره، ولكن مع مرور الوقت بدأت المشاكل تظهر وتؤثر عليهم أجمعين.
The river’s water began to decrease, the trees began to wither, and the sounds of birds and the harmony between them were no longer what they had been. All the creatures gathered, asking anxiously and fearfully: “What is happening?”
فبدأت مياه النهر في النقصان، والأشجار بدأت تذبل، وأصوات الطيور والتناغم فيما بينهم لم يعد كما كان؛ فاجتمعت الكائنات كلها متسائلة في قلق وخوف: “ما الذي يحدث؟”
After they had gathered, they discovered that everything that was happening was because the little creature had stopped performing his role. They immediately asked him why, and he answered them, tears streaming down his face: “I am small, weak, and worthless, and my role is not as important as your roles!”
وبعد أن اجتمعت، اكتشفوا أن كل ما يحدث بسبب أن الكائن الصغير قد توقف عن أداء دوره، فسألوه على الفور عن السبب، فأجابهم قائلا والدموع تقطر من عينيه: “إنني صغير ضعيف لا قيمة لي، ودوري ليس مهما مثل أدواركم أنتم”!
One of the forest creatures replied to her, and she was wise: “Your role is very important. You are like the river and the huge trees. Each one of us in the forest completes the other. If just one of us stops performing his role, everything inside this giant forest will be affected by it, as we have all seen. So do not underestimate yourself and do not underestimate the role you play.”
فردت عليها واحدة من كائنات الغابة وقد كانت حكيمة: “إن دورك مهم جدا، أنت مثلك مثل النهر والأشجار الضخمة، كل واحد منا بالغابة يكمل الآخر، ولو توقف واحد منا مجرد واحد وحسب عن أداء دوره، فكل شيء داخل الغابة العملاقة هذه سيتأثر به مثلما رأينا جميعا، فلا تقلل من نفسك ولا تقلل من الدور الذي تفعله”.
The little creature finally understood and returned to his role. The river waters flowed strongly again, the trees became lush green again, and the birds began to sing again.
فهم الكائن الصغير وأخيرا، وعاد مجددا لأداء دوره، فرجعت مياه النهر تجري بقوة، وعادت الأشجار خضرة يانعة، وعادت الطيور لتشدو.
