القصـــــــــــــــة:
It is said that in one country there lived a widowed woman with her young and only son in a very small cottage on the outskirts of the city.
يُحكى أنه عاشت في إحدى البلاد امرأة أرملة مع ابنها الصغير والوحيد في كوخ صغير للغاية على أطراف المدينة.
This woman received government assistance that was barely enough for her and her young child, but despite the little money, she and her son were completely satisfied, and happiness surrounded them at all times.
وكانت هذه السيدة تحصل على معونة من الحكومة بالكاد تكفيها وصغيرها، وعلى الرغم من المال القليل إلا أنها وابنها كانا راضيين كل الرضا، وكانت السعادة تحيط بهما في كل وقت.
One bitterly cold winter day, heavy rain fell on the village where this woman lived. Due to the intensity of the rain, it began to seep into the woman’s hut through the dilapidated and crumbling roof. The kind mother rushed to protect her little one from the rain, hugging him tenderly so that his clothes would not get wet and he would not get sick.
وفي يوم من أيام فصل الشتاء قارس البرودة، هطل المطر غزيرًا على القرية التي تسكن بها هذه السيدة، ومن شدة الأمطار، فقد بدأ يتسرب إلى داخل كوخ السيدة من السقف المتهالك والآيل للسقوط، فسارعت الأم الطيبة لحماية صغيرها من الأمطار، احتضنته بحنانها لكيلا تتبلل ملابسه ويصيبه المرض.
But raindrops were still dripping over their heads. The mother thought for a moment and came up with a brilliant and effective idea. She unscrewed the hut door and leaned it against a railing, and sat with her son in her lap behind the door, which provided them with cover from the heavy rain.
ولكن قطرات المطر لاتزال تتقطر فوق رؤوسهما، فكرت الأم قليلاً، واهتدت إلى فكرة رائعة وفعالة في نفس الوقت، لقد قامت بفك باب الكوخ باب وأسندته إلى حائد، وجلست وابنها في حضنها وراء الباب، فكان ساترا لهما من الأمطار الغزيرة.
Her little one felt happy to be embraced by his loving mother, and said to her happily: “We have plenty of luck, Mother, but what about the poor, needy people who don’t have a door to shelter behind from these heavy rains?!”
شعر صغيرها بالسعادة على احتواء أمه الحنونة إياه، وقال لأمه في سعادة: “لدينا حظ وفير يا أماه، ولكن ماذا يفعل الفقراء المساكين الذين لا يملكون بابًا يحتمون وراءه من هذه الأمطار الغزيرة؟!”
